About Us

The way of the world is that a thousand enter to learn Torah;
but only a hundred reach mastery of Mishna;
of which ten reach mastery of Talmud;
of which one reaches mastery to guide the people
– Kohelet Raba

Manhigut Toranit is a rigorous 5-year post-Semicha program.

What sets us apart?

Our program’s cornerstone is the belief that Torah leadership extends beyond the walls of the Beit Midrash. Participants engage in rigorous Torah study while serving in the IDF reserves, exemplifying a commitment to both spiritual and national strength. This dual role reflects our conviction that true leaders inspire not only through their words but also through their deeds.

1. Intensive Torah Study

The prestigious Eretz Hemdah Beit Midrash provides the perfect environment for our participants to immerse themselves in the study of Torah and Halacha b’iyun. The demanding curriculum helps to provide them with the comprehensive knowledge and analytical skills to become first-rate Talmidei Chachamim able to uplift and inspire.

In addition to being tested and certified in the Advanced Smicha (Rav Ir) of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, our learning is supplemented with weekly classes on Tanach and Jewish Philosophy, covering the writings of the greatest Jewish thinkers throughout the ages.

2. Torat Eretz Yisrael

We are living in unprecedented times, as the State of Israel stands as a beacon for the Jewish people, where Torah can once again thrive in its natural home.

Our avreichim are at the forefront of this vision, embodying the values of Torat Eretz Yisrael — a Torah rooted in tradition yet deeply engaged with the contemporary realities of Jewish life in a sovereign state.

In addition to their intensive studies in the Beit Midrash, our avreichim serve in the IDF reserves. This dual role not only enriches their Torah learning but also instills in them a profound sense of responsibility to Klal Yisrael, fostering a Torah that inspires action, courage, and leadership.

3. Leadership Training
Our participants and their wives undergo specialized training to provide well-rounded leadership and equip them to deal with the host of challenges and questions facing communities around the world today.

They undergo certified courses from trained professionals teaching such skills as Public Speaking and Effective Communication, Practical Tools for Educating in the Digital Age, Mediation and Conflict Resolution, End of Life Decisions, Mental Health and Suicide Awareness, amongst others.

4. Global Impact – “Shlichut”

Our avreichim learn – in order to give back. Through their commitment to a minimum 3-year shlichut, our graduates bring the light of Torat Eretz Yisrael to Jewish communities worldwide.

Through their shlichut, they share the Torah they have learned, foster connections, inspire growth, and create a lasting impact that extends far beyond Israel’s borders.

They continue to lead with distinction long after their time abroad, bringing their enriched experience back to Israel and leaving a profound mark on the fabric of Israeli society.

Who are our participants?

After a rigorous screening process, each year we select a few outstanding students who have shown excellence in Torah, willing to make an eight-year commitment (Five years of intensive study followed by a minimum three years of shlichut). Many of our participants are married with families and either they, or their families, have made Aliyah from around the world. All of our Israeli-born students have served in the IDF.

Throughout Milchemet Charvot Barzel, many of our avreichim, alumni and staff have answered the call to serve, balancing their roles as defenders of the nation and spiritual guides. Their courage highlights the program’s success in producing leaders who act with conviction and inspire through selflessness.

Our Partners

Eretz Hemdah has been at the vanguard of producing talmidei chachamim for the Religious Zionist world for the past three decades. Headed by Rav Yosef Carmel and Rav Moshe Ehrenreich, it is considered the premier post smicha institution in the National Religious world, producing Dayanim, Roshei Yeshiva and Rabbanim as well as producing responsa for modern-day questions under the framework of the B’Mareh HaBazak and “Ask the Rabbi” projects.

World Mizrachi is a global educational organization inspiring a sense of commitment to Torah, the Jewish people and the Land of Israel. Based in Jerusalem and with branches across the globe, Mizrachi – an acronym for merkaz ruchani (spiritual centre) – was founded in 1902 by Rabbi Yitzchak Yaakov Reines, and is led today by Rabbi Doron Perez.

These graduates have had a monumental impact on our community. They are true Talmidei Chachamim – first-grade scholars – who are able to connect with our students and our families and serve as leaders throughout our community. We cannot thank you enough.

- Rabbi Seth Grauer, Rosh Yeshiva, Yeshivat Or Chaim, Toronto

It has been a privilege to study Tzurba M’Rabanan over the past three and a half years. The halachic sources are diverse, the topics are fascinating and the Rabbi was always open to deal with questions raised by those in attendance.

- Kenny Brand, Participant, Tzurba M’Rabanan shiur, London

We feel so blessed to have graduates of Manhigut Toranit as a truly incredible addition to our rabbinic team. Their contribution has been enormous in such a short space of time, and we can only imagine what the future holds for them and for us.
